I was asked to paint this little 2½ year old using a size that would be the length of a couch it would be hung over. She needed the excess of space filled with something. I saw her pets being lazy and decided to invite them to Renee's tea party so photographed each one. I had to reverse the negative of her cat, when printing in my darkroom, so it would be facing the right direction. The tablecloth is trimmed by my great Aunt's handwork and I bought the tea set at Woolworth's Dime store. Our single Begonia plant served to multiply in the long planter I designed for this fun event. Note one doll I dressed like Renee. I wanted to re-photograph the original painting but lost touch with the family. So the old print has to do.
